NEWS FROM THE TRAIL

August 2006 - Sierra Art Trails Catalogs Coming Soon!

Sierra Art Trails now in its fourth year is making great preparations for this coming year’s show. The catalog is being printed and will be on sale before the end of the month.  It is a gorgeous catalog this year with a lake at sunset in the High Sierras of Yosemite National Park, a photo taken by Heidi Vetter.   The show will take place on October 14th and 15th and will wind its way throughout Mariposa and Eastern Madera Counties.  Watch for sales locations in the coming weeks.

One of our very talented artists this year is Larry Potter.  He has been a cabinetmaker by profession, but now also produces wonderful works of art.  He is drawn to the beauty and peaceful atmosphere of this mountain area.  He has been experimenting with pencil, pastels, pen and ink and most recently, oil painting.   Larry’s work is stunning, especially considering that he is mainly self-taught.   His inspiration comes from our beautiful mountain areas, still life, animals and people. He has dabbled in the arts since childhood, but only started painting in earnest during the past few years.  You can visit with Larry on Art Trails weekend, watch him paint and see or purchase a whole variety of his work.

Plan on taking this two-day adventure this fall to see the studios and workshops of the 117 participating artists.  It is truly an enriching experience as a huge variety of art will be on display and it will also be for sale.
