STUDENT SPONSORSHIPS

Due to generous sponsorship the Sierra Art Trails is hosting three students this year: Brittania Bergan, Taylor Brown and Thelonious Elliott. These young artists get their first experience to exhibit in a professional art show, each at their own site.

Brittania will be showing in North Fork, and states, "My art is heavily influenced by two pop cultural forces:  fashion and music. I incorporate a sleek silhouette or rebellious beat into my work, along with giving an impression of whatever happens to be resonating through my headphones."

Painting by Taylor BrownTaylor will be showing at the Yosemite High School Gallery. Taylor says of his process, "I use a style of cursive in my paintings to illustrate leaves, grass or bark; to guide the viewer, hide a random message, or poem. They are evidence that abstract art isn't random as people think, but an original product of our subconscious."

Thelonious will be showing in Yosemite Lakes Park, and comments, "I have a philosophic mind, which plays a central role in my artistic process. My art is supposed to reflect observations I make about people and myself. My art is based on a "stream of consciousness" approach."
