Who we are

SIERRA ART TRAILS - Yosemite Foothills Open Studio Tour - Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct 4th, 5th and 6th, 2013 

 

Now in its 10th year, The Sierra Art Trails Open Studio Tour is the most anticipated arts event in the Yosemite Foothills.  The show gives art enthusiasts the chance to see fine art and fine crafts in the making, and to purchase works directly from the people who create them. The show takes place in homes, studios, galleries, and businesses in more than a dozen communities in Eastern Madera and Mariposa Counties.  The show features artists and artisans working in a wide range of media including painting, photography, jewelry, sculpture, fiber arts, woodcarving, ceramics, glass, and more!

 

          Sierra Art Trails is a 501c4 Non-profit corporation dedicated to supporting working artists and artisans by promoting and showcasing their work.  Each year, our organization produces the annual Open Studio Tour and a number of other unique art exhibits and art related events.  Art Trails raises funds for student scholarships, public arts, community awards for artists and art organizations, and a unique student sponsorship program.  Through these activities we seek to increase public awareness of the importance of the arts in our lives, and the role that artists play in building and maintaining a vibrant culture, stimulating imagination and invention, and improving quality of life.

 

          The festivities kick off in early September with the Sierra Art Trails Preview Exhibit at Stellar Gallery.  The Preview Exhibit is open through the Art Trails weekend, and includes a representative piece by each artist in the show.  Viewing the preview exhibit is a great way to plan your weekend, discover the work that you most want to see, and plan your route to the studios you want to visit.

 

          The price of admission to Sierra Art Trails is $18.00, which includes the annual tour catalog, your “ticket for two” for the event.  Catalogs include a list of artists and their viewing locations, and detailed maps to get you there.  The Preview Exhibit is free and open to the public from 11 am to 5 pm Thursday through Monday.

 

           By participating in the tour as an artist or as a visitor, you are not only supporting the arts, you are also benefiting our foothills communities, and helping to make our area a place people look forward to visiting.  Please join us!  Artists interested in applying can download the application and find general information on the event web site.  Sierra Art Trails encourages artists from outside the region to participate.  No matter where you are from you can apply!
